Fun Friday Two, Deux, Dos,Due or Zwei

What do you do at 9:00 in the morning when 2 police officers are at you door?

Open it of course...If you can picture this I was wearing my Hillary 2008 t-shirt and Joe's boxer shorts and haven't combed my hair yet. (your not even safe to wear american t-shirt in your own  home) After questioning me about my ID card, who lives here and is the house ours or do we rent they left.

Two years ago when this happened I knew about the surprise visit and was ready...this time they totally caught me off guard and asked more questions. Thank god I found my ID card the other day it was missing for a while.

Hi there! Thanks for your comment on my blog :) It's always nice to hear from other expats here in Belgium.

We waited for three weeks for our last police visit... I sat around everyday thinking, "ok maybe they'll come today so I won't dress like a total slob, even though I'm only staying around the house today..." Finally they showed up when we weren't there and just made note of our names on the door... sigh.

When we had our police visit, I was surprised that they didn't want to inspect the house for evidence of more (unregistered) people living there. Maybe our ferocious dog Hana scared them off (not!).

the one officer wanted to see Foxy but she would not come down stairs when they were here...the first time they came by they didn't look around however we had rental furniture that was really bad.
This time when I went up stairs to get my card i came down and he was wondering around the main floor.

Hi there, I have been to Belgium but never lived there. I am curious to know why the police make these regular visits. Is this something they do all the time to everyone that is not a native?
